22 Mayıs 1959'da Britanya'da doğan Morissey (gerçak adı ile Steven Patrick Morrissey), '70'lerde punk rock grubu The Nosebleeds ve '80'lerde The Smiths grubunda görev aldı. Grup 1987'de dağılınca Morissey de solo kariyerine başladı. Morissey başarılı solo albümlere imzasını atmıştır.
